Birgusovy fotografie z doby tzv. normalizace byly v\u011bt\u0161inou \u010dernob\u00edl\u00e9. Odpov\u00eddalo to nejen tehdej\u0161\u00edmu pojet\u00ed dokument\u00e1rn\u00ed fotografie, do n\u00ed\u017e ale Birgus vnesl v\u00fdrazn\u011b subjektivn\u00ed c\u00edt\u011bn\u00ed, ale i celkov\u00e9 atmosf\u00e9\u0159e tehdej\u0161\u00ed neut\u011b\u0161en\u00e9 doby. Fotografie n\u00e1s vracej\u00ed do tehdej\u0161\u00edch \u010desk\u00fdch a moravsk\u00fdch m\u011bst, stejn\u011b jako do Moskvy, Tallinnu, Rigy, Var\u0161avy, Sofie a dal\u0161\u00edch metropol\u00ed sov\u011btsk\u00fdch satelit\u016f. Do m\u00edst, kter\u00e1 opanoval v\u0161eprostupuj\u00edc\u00ed marasmus, alkoholizmus, deprese, popisovan\u00e9 jako ztr\u00e1ta \u017eivotn\u00edch perspektiv. Nejsou prvopl\u00e1nov\u011b politick\u00e9, zachycuj\u00ed vratk\u00e9 bloud\u00edc\u00ed postavy, zamlkl\u00e9 a podmra\u010den\u00e9 mu\u017ee a \u017eeny v jejich pacht\u011bn\u00ed po zbo\u017e\u00ed, kter\u00e9ho nebylo dost nebo nebylo v\u016fbec. M\u011bsta byla ch\u00e1traj\u00edc\u00edmi kulisami (zd\u00e1nliv\u011b) nezvratiteln\u00fdch lidsk\u00fdch osud\u016f, \u010dernob\u00edl\u00e9 fotografie se svoj\u00ed \u0161k\u00e1lou \u0161ed\u00ed dokonale vystihuj\u00ed nem\u011bnnost dn\u00ed i noc\u00ed.  Bez\u010das\u00ed bylo \u010dlen\u011bno jen st\u00e1tn\u00edmi sv\u00e1tky, fotbalov\u00fdmi nebo hokejov\u00fdmi sez\u00f3nami a epizodami seri\u00e1l\u016f Jaroslava Dietla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eJemn\u00fdm a esteticky vyt\u0159\u00edben\u00fdm pohledem na ho\u0159kou normaliza\u010dn\u00ed realitu n\u00e1m autorovy fotografie, vedle samotn\u00e9ho dokumentaristick\u00e9ho sd\u011blen\u00ed, i dnes p\u0159ipom\u00ednaj\u00ed, \u017ee bychom si m\u011bli v\u00e1\u017eit svobod z\u00edskan\u00fdch v listopadu 1989, mo\u017enost\u00ed rozhodovat o sv\u00e9m osudu,\u201c \u0159\u00edk\u00e1 kur\u00e1tor v\u00fdstavy Jan Ml\u010doch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vladim\u00edr Birgus (nar. 1954) m\u011bl na osm des\u00edtek autorsk\u00fdch v\u00fdstav, ale v Praze se p\u0159edstavil jenom na men\u0161\u00edch expozic\u00edch ve v\u00fdstavn\u00ed s\u00edni Foma, v Pra\u017esk\u00e9m dom\u011b fotografie nebo v Leica Gallery Prague . Jinak byl autorem \u010di spoluautorem n\u011bkolik stovek v\u00fdstav doma i v zahrani\u010d\u00ed (Modern\u00ed kr\u00e1sa \u2013 \u010cesk\u00e1 fotografick\u00e1 avantgarda 1918 \u2013 1948, \u010cesk\u00e1 fotografie 20. stolet\u00ed, z\u00e1sadn\u00edch retrospektiv Franti\u0161ka Drtikola, Eugena Wi\u0161kovsk\u00e9ho, Jaroslava R\u00f6sslera, Josefa Sudka ad.), ale i des\u00edtek p\u0159ehl\u00eddek sou\u010dasn\u00fdch autor\u016f. Jeho kni\u017en\u00ed publikace jsou jak doma, tak i v zahrani\u010d\u00ed, p\u0159ij\u00edm\u00e1ny jako z\u00e1kladn\u00ed informa\u010dn\u00ed prameny o \u010desk\u00e9m fotografick\u00e9m d\u011bn\u00ed. Sou\u010dasn\u011b se desetilet\u00ed anga\u017euje i na sv\u011btov\u00e9m f\u00f3ru, na festivalech, veletrz\u00edch a mezin\u00e1rodn\u00edch workshopech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vladim\u00edr Birgus s Um\u011bleckopr\u016fmyslov\u00fdm muzeem v Praze spolupracoval u\u017e od poloviny 80. let, kdy p\u0159ipravil p\u0159ehl\u00eddku prac\u00ed pra\u017esk\u00e9 FAMU. V n\u00e1sleduj\u00edc\u00edch desetilet\u00edch byl spoluautorem a \u010dasto i inici\u00e1torem n\u011bkter\u00fdch nejv\u00fdznamn\u011bj\u0161\u00edch v\u00fdstavn\u00edch a publika\u010dn\u00edch projekt\u016f muzea. Tato p\u0159ehl\u00eddka jeho ran\u00e9 tvorby je i ur\u010dit\u00fdm pod\u011bkov\u00e1n\u00edm za mnohaletou spolupr\u00e1ci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00fdstava velkoform\u00e1tov\u00fdch \u010dernob\u00edl\u00fdch zv\u011bt\u0161enin je dopln\u011bna projekc\u00ed, roz\u0161i\u0159uj\u00edc\u00ed vhled do autorova archivu.
